Western Cape Cheetah Cape town, 81334
Over 10 years ago, there weren’t many surgeries done on cheetahs and so much more knowledge has been acquired to this day.
Because of the innovative surgery on a cheetah back then who was condemned to never be able to walk or run again, Banzi’s success story reached a lot of people thought Africa. The technique used by Dr. Alex Lewis worked perfectly and was later used by many other Vets to correct similar problems with cheetahs and other animals.
Banzi’s legs healed and grew properly until this day. Banzi can run, play, and do everything as a normal cheetah – Even hunt!
The biggest success out of this beautiful story doesn’t end here. It continues as Banzi goes further in his rehabilitation process and once out in the rehab reserve, met a wild female – named Lotta.
They blessed us with 4 wonderful cubs born, a huge success knowing cheetahs are extremely difficult to breed in captive environments. In fact, they need to feel as in a natural habitat in order to do so – which is exactly what we are trying to create in the rehabilitation. A place with minimum human contact, big own territories & contact with other individuals on their own terms.
This natural place that we created for them has lead to 3 successful litters of cubs.
The biggest gift we could receive from Banzi, and he is a very happy and proud father.
Being a non profit organization Cape Cheetah get supported partly from funds generated from safaris and tourism benefitting from released cheetahs in the reserve and also outside donations & support.
By donating to us, you can help with the care of the cheetahs and time and cost maintaining a permanent staff only establishment with professionals employed and no volunteers for work.
A cheetahs meal which are costly ranging up to R70 – R120 per individual as we are feeding the very best natural diet for our animals.
You also support us in our next coming project towards creating release sights for our rehabilitated and/or retired cheetahs.
Providing them with a natural home with more space and freedom.
